FACTS ABOUT...
Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport

The airport was formerly the Atlanta Speedway, a racetrack owned by Coca-Cola founder and ex-Atlanta mayor Asa Candler. The track operated from 1909 until the early 1920s. In 1925, the city leased the abandoned racetrack with the goal of turning it into an airfield...

Now, it is the biggest airport in the world by passenger traffic (PAX) and aircraft movements. Regularly named the most efficient airport in the world! Atlanta is within a two-hour flight of 80 percent of the United States population.

Hartsfield-Jackson serves more than 150 U.S. destinations and more than 70 international destinations in 43 countries. The airport has the tallest air traffic control tower in North America (398 feet or 121 meters) and is the fourth tallest in the world.
